UKAS Approved Floor Slip Testing - what is it?

UKAS is the (quote) - “UK’s National Accreditation Body, responsible for determining, in the public interest, the technical competence and integrity of organisations such as those offering testing, calibration and certification services”.

It goes on to say - “If you are responsible for setting or delivering policies that involve any form of independent evaluation, UKAS can help in a number of ways including defining your needs or designing an assessment or accreditation service to suit your policy requirements”. I.e. they set up policy of how to test and to provide independent evaluation

Do FloorSlip have UKAS approval?

No, for the following main reason. We keep and grow our FloorSlip Customers and the respective Slip Injury Accident Lawyers FloorSlip conduct work for by keeping affordable floor testing and Expert Witness prices

We would have to DOUBLE or EVEN TREBLE the price of floor testing to apply for and maintain UKAS approval, that is a cost that UKAS suppliers of Floor Testing pass on to you - we will not.

As mentioned above, UKAS set up policy of what standards to test are applied and how they should be applied.

But the same/similar data is also available on the HSE/HSL website and informs the following: -

1. It informs: - the Floor Testing Equipment to use & the build standards; the HSE/HSL indicates: -

a. The Pendulum Floor Slip Test Equipment to use, which is the same floor testing equipment that FloorSlip use

b. The Floor Surface Roughness Test Equipment to use which is also the same floor surface test equipment FloorSlip use

c. That the Equipment will be built to UK standard BS7976-1 and Calibrated to BS7976-3.

The Pendulum Test Equipment FloorSlip purchase and we also sell on behalf of UK manufacturers is made in the UK and built / calibrated to BS7976-1 and BS7976-3; it is also re calibrated annually and that fact and the floor test equipment calibration certificates accompany our CPR35/COPFS compliant expert witness reports in slip injury claims       

2. It informs: - The Standards / Methods to use to conduct floor slip tests tests

a. The HSE/HSL indicate that British Standards BS7976-2 should be used and in conjunction with UKSRG (UK slip Resistance Guidelines). Under the English CPR35 and Scottish COPFS legislation, FloorSlip MUST always provide independent and impartial floor slip testing, results and Expert Witness Compliant Reports (where requested and Expert Witness Reports available at affordable prices)

4. Some relevant background on FloorSlip

FloorSlip have been conducting impartial / independent Floor Slip Pendulum Testing ONLY using ‘mature’ and highly experienced personnel with a background in testing from the Military, Aerospace, Nuclear, Naval, Submarine and High Voltage Electric industries - see more in About FloorSlip. These are all industries that DEMAND very high standards of quality, testing, health and safety and reporting, which are naturally applied to Floor Testing.

We do not subcontract or rely on any one but ourselves to ensure a high state of rigour always applies. We also ONLY concentrate on Floor Testing and providing floor safety assessments and Expert Witness reports in Slip Injury Claims.

We do not diversify into multiple test types (a many UKAS approved test houses do) making us, in our opinion, far more dependable and affordable for you to receive reliable and dependable floor tests results and expert witness evidence if you have a floor slip injury claim

5. I have a contract that informs to use UKAS approved floor tests only - what should I do?

Many ‘contracts’ are simply ‘Cut and Paste’ without any real idea what ‘UKAS’ means. Get a quote from FloorSlip and get a Quote from a UKAS supplier and compare the price differences. If the UKAS provider proves to be highly expensive, then ask your Customer if they want to save costs to get what is EXACTLY THE SAME service (In fact, FloorSlip would like to say we probably do better as we specialise in floor slip testing only and typically far cheaper for floor testing prices).
